This month I would like to clear up a few things about new cars.  It’s important to maintain your car from the beginning.   Your owner’s manual may say you need an oil change after 7500 miles but we’ve always believed it's better to perform your first oil change after 1500 miles.  When an engine is new, there are small particles in the oil that is part of the break in process of a new engine, and it’s best to get that out early with the first oil change.

Also, some people think you have to take your car to the dealer for the first three years otherwise you will void the warranty.  This is absolutely false and if the salesman tells you this, he is lying.  First of all, dealer repairs cost on the average 34 percent more than repairs done at independent shops according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association.  Second, the Magnuson-Moss Act prohibits a manufacturer from voiding vehicle warranties because service was performed by an independent shop.

At Kramers, we use only original equipment equivalent oil, filters and parts for your car.  We put them in our own cars so we have to trust them too.

Rest assured that when you come to us for service we’ll take good car of your new vehicle.  You won’t leave with a tremendous bill for a simple oil change and we’ll only do the work that is necessary.
